Ching Qizhen Ruth was a student at Fairfield Methodist School (Secondary) from 2020 to 2023.

Academic Ability

Ruth was an attentive and independent learner who worked hard towards her goals with determination and resilience. In recognition of the improvement she made in her academic results, she received the Ministry of Education Edusave Good Progress Award in 2020.

Character Reference and Leadership

Ruth was a sweet-natured and courteous student who demonstrated respect towards her teachers and peers.

Gracious and mindful of others' feelings, Ruth's pleasant nature endeared her to her classmates. With a natural gift and artistic flair for the arts, she extensively contributed to the class with her creative designs. She led the class design team for the school's Oh! It's Fairfield Carnival. As the Person In-Charge, she conceptualised the banner designs for both the class's food and game stalls. Ruth willingly volunteered to sketch portraits to raise funds for the class for the carnival. Additionally, she played a significant role in designing the class's T-shirt and the class page for the school magazine. Ruth was a humble student who worked patiently with quiet determination to produce high-quality work. In her role as a leader, she exhibited trustworthiness and consistently conducted herself in a responsible manner, demonstrating a genuine appreciation for the contributions of her teammates.

Ruth was a dependable and dedicated member of the Fairfield Guitar Ensemble from 2020 to 2023. She actively participated in a wide array of performances. Ruth's invaluable contributions helped the Fairfield Guitar Ensemble to achieve the Certificate of Accomplishment at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation for Instrumental Ensembles (Guitar) in 2021 and 2023. In 2022, she represented the school at the Kaleidoscopic Odyssey IV: Hope. and performed at the school's Open House. In 2023, she performed at the Oh! It's Fairfield Carnival. Ruth was also a member of the Upper Secondary Guitar Ensemble Executive Committee in 2023.

With a heart for the community, Ruth made significant contributions to society through several Values-In-Action projects. In 2022, she demonstrated care and concern for the community by volunteering at Willing Hearts and Food Bank, where she helped to pack and sort items. She also prepared care packages for frontline transport workers to express her appreciation for their selfless dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the class's fundraising efforts for the school, she actively contributed to the setting up and running of the food stall for the Oh! It's Fairfield Carnival in 2023. Her hard work and dedication helped the class to achieve commendable results in fundraising sales. These experiences enriched her learning in school, provided her with new insights into life, and taught her precious life skills.
